Muslims have to obey the law and regulation stipulated by the Quran and the saying of the prophet Muhammad s.a.w (Hadith) . These laws guide the Muslims how to live in this world. The muslims have to obey what is obligatory (fard) , forbideen(haram), praiseworthy (sunnat), etc. The obedience to these rule and regulation is the basis of the Muslims ethic and morality. The rules and regulations which is termed as syariah are laden with wisdom.

Alcohol and Alcoholism in Makkah

Makkah (Mecca) was the socio-economic center of the Arabian Peninsular at the pre-Islamic time and it was infested with multitude of social problem akin to the present time London, Washington, Moscow, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta and others. Among these social problems were tribalism, prostitution,sexual promescuity, gambling, slavery, alcoholism etc. The advent of Islam which is the continuation of the religion of Ibrahim (Abraham), Musa (Moses) and Isa (Jesus) has managed to rid the society of the social problems and Makkah andf Madinah bloomed into the center of civilisation.

Alcoholism
.

Alcoholism in Makkah was very serious problem, almost all walk of society consumed al-Khamr. Al-Khamr include all type alcohol containing drink such as the present day wine, beer, vodkha, tuak, sake, etc and when consumed led into sickness (mabuk, shuukirat). Since the Arab were so fond of al-Khamr, the law pertaining to consumption of al-Khamr was gradually revealed. Initially the Quran states that 'do not approach the solat (prayer) when you were in the state of intoxication" and finally the Quran says " That al-khamr is the game of the shaitaan" which implies that it is forbidden. Once the law on al-Khamr was revealed, Makkah was freed from alcoholism and it marked the most successful eradication of alcoholism in human history! The present day governments such as the American government and the Russian Government tried to reduced alcoholism in the societies and they failed. Punishment For The Consumer of al-Khamr

.

Islamic staunch on alcoholism could clearly be seen in the saying of the prophet Muhammad s.a.w " Those who drink al-Khamr, sell the al-Khmar, carry the al-Khamr, advertise the al-Khamr ar sinned". And thoe people who is cought drinking al-Khamr could face the flogging for drinking al-Khamr. Why flogging? I am not sure why but punishment in Islam is intended to give lesson to the other not to do the same crime.

Hijab
.

Hijab means to cover, when applied to the physical aspect of human body it means to cover the body except the face and the hands up to the wrist. For male the compulsory part of the body to be covered is between the navels and the knees. It is The commandment for the Muslim female to cover the body is stated in the following verse:

24:31 And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband's fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their women, or the slaves whom their right hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex; and that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments. And O ye Believers! turn ye all together towards Allah, that ye may attain Bliss.

Islam strictly forbid any form of sexual promiscuity, adultery, fornication, premarital sex, homosexuality etc. and any form of engagement between male and female which enhance the human passion to indulge in sexual promiscuity is discourage including close proximity between male and female etc. Covering the body is part as stipulated by the Islamic rule (shari'ah) is part of the means of discouraging this. Sexual promiscuity will normally led into the collapse of the family institution and thus destroy the basis of societies. Francis Fukuyama, in his "The Great Disruption" pinpointed that the negative population growth in the developed countries is caused partly by the sexual revolution and freedom. A recent study by a group of psychologists had discovered an interesting correlation between man ability to make a good decision and sexual images.

Sister In Islam

.

Sister in Islam has always been critical to certain aspects of the implementation of the syariah or the Islamic rule. I do believe that the Sister in Islam criticed the implementation of the syariah not the syariah itself and the critism is caused by the injustices that has been so long been ignored. Many divocee ( women) are unjustly left by their former husbands and that is the probable reason why the Sisters in Islam reject the Islamic rule, it is the implementation!

However the rejection of the Syariah by the Sister of Islam to certain aspect of Islamic Law such as the multiple wives (polygamy) and the Inheritance laws should be rethought because these are laws given by the Creator of the universe. There are wisdom behind each law including the inheritance law as well as the polygamy law. If the rejection persists even after witnessing the proof that the Quran is from Allah, it is up to them to believe or not to believe. There is no compulsion in religion, the truth is clear!

Riba

.

Riba is any form of extra payment beside the amount lent to someone. If I lend my friend RM100 and I want him to pay RM110 when he pay back the money is riba, even if I demand extra payment of one cent i.e. RM100.05 cent also riba. The present banking system is predominantly interest based banking system. The wisdom of the interest free banking system was only realized by many people recently.

The Collapse of Capitalism

Capitalism is a system which is based heavily on the riba 'interest system of finance". The system maintain the imbalance between the "have" and the "have not". Wikle the rich people will always benefit from the system, the poor will be helpless. You could only borrow money from the bank if you are able to provide security that you could pay back the money to the bank.
